Particles
& Features
The size, shape,
and composition of material are critical in the overall design of
most products. Roundness or slight elongation, smoothness or roughness,
cleanliness or contamination can have a profound impact on end-product
function and quality. Successfully evaluating and characterizing
these parameters can significantly improve production yields and
aid in identifying the source of problems during manufacturing.
ASPEX scanning electron microscopes can determine particle sizes and critical dimensions to sub-micron
accuracy in either a manual or a fully automated mode. It automatically
pinpoints and can identify contamination, wear debris, and inclusions
quickly and in an unbiased way. By locating, sizing, and evaluating
the composition of particles or features of interest quickly, you can
make an immediate difference.
Interactive Analysis
- Size & Shape Characterization - Determine roundness and elongation.
- Composition Determination - What is it? How much?
- Product Inspection - Does it meet spec? Are the features measurable?
- Incoming
Stock Evaluation - Improve supplier quality and production yields.
- Particle–Feature Association - Identify the source "fingerprinting."
Automated Applications
- Gun Shot Residue Analysis - Automated analysis of sub-micron particles. Trace evidence
- Contamination Particulate Characterization - Critical cleanliness applications. Light optical referencing capabilities.
- Inclusion Analysis - Grade products, i.e., divert "heats" to appropriate applications.
- Wear Debris Analysis - Monitor wear and prevent mechanical failures. Source identification.
