R&D
The demands of managing an industrial research and development operation
are quite different from those of a scientific laboratory. Budgetary
pressures mean that you must produce quality results quickly and efficiently.
You don't have the time to play around with finicky equipment
that was designed for an ivory tower. You need a tool to solve problems
now and with no excuses.
The ASPEX personal scanning electron microscope (PSEM) is designed to expedite the research process. The design
of the system's stage box allows large, oddly shaped items to
be readily mounted and viewed. The ASPEX variable pressure option
further simplifies the preparation of samples by eliminating the need
for coating. ASPEX Perception software is ergonomically designed to
place the most used controls near your mouse tip for efficient operation.
Often the QuickPrint function is all that is required to document
a solution. Advanced automated tools such as AFA and CFA allow you
to multitask while ASPEX PSEM performs the tedious part of the analysis.
For these and so many other reasons, ASPEX PSEM is uniquely capable
of fitting smoothly and productively into an industrial research and
development environment.
Education
The scanning electron microscope is a wonderful way to involve high
school and college students in the excitement of science. SEM images
look similar to black-and-white photographs, making them easy for
students to understand and interpret. The ability to zoom from low
magnifications to high makes relationships of scale intuitive. When
combined with an X-ray detector, the relationships between material
properties and composition become obvious.
Unfortunately, most SEMs are too delicate and require too much training
for use in an academic environment. ASPEX PSEM is different. Our
intuitive, instrument-like user interface is easy for students to
grasp. The instrument is carefully designed so that, with a few
simple precautions, it is rugged enough for daily student use. With
the variable pressure option, almost any sample can be loaded directly
into the capacious drawer stage without extensive sample preparation.
In a classroom environment, images can be readily projected using
an LCD projector. Control of the instrument can be shared over a
local area network.
Combine all these advantages with our low total cost of ownership,
and it is easy to understand why ASPEX PSEM is an ideal educational
tool for high schools and universities.
