Microscopy Scholarship

At ASPEX, our core products utilize the imaging capability of a Scanning Electron Microscope – SEM combined with the elemental analysis functionality of an Energy Dispersive Spectrometer – EDS detector. We are seeking innovative applications focused on supporting quality and or process control initiatives at industrial manufacturing facilities where SEM-EDS will be applied to support these efforts.

Example application: A pharmaceutical manufacturing plant was experiencing low yields due particle contamination. An initial investigation to determine the particle source was followed by a routine foreign particle monitoring program. The company improved yields by 25% since the program has been implemented.

Applicants will be required to submit a 1000 word abstract detailing their concept. The winner will be awarded $1,000 as well as an opportunity to co-author a poster with ASPEX at Pittcon 2010.
